2022

A partnership with Limerick City and County Council

We ran a series of workshops in order to increase biodiversity and identify ways to continue to prioritise nature on the Castletroy Greenway, Co. Limerick.

Activities included online presentation of work, coordinating seedbed intervention workshops, hosting nature walks to map the area for future planting and locating potential stop/pause/play points along the route, creating bug homes, and gathering community input to co-design our final recommendations to the Greenway.

A Nature Workshop on 9th July 2022 marked the official opening of the natural play area and bug homes workshop to enhance biodiversity. The group gathered natural materials along the greenway to make shelters for wildlife. Read more details here.

Led by Landscape Architect Esther Gerrad, 25 participants physically walked the route looking at existing natural assets, mapping areas for planting and exploring stop/pause/play points along the route. The above map showcases participant’s ideas for a seedbed intervention. A natural play area incorporates some of the ideas using natural materials onsite to develop a space for both playing and greening. The location of the natural play area is marked by the three little trees in the drawing (halfway point). Read more about this workshop here.
