A Collaboration between the Swan Youth Center, Elements of Action, HubSpot, and Holly Pereira

Elements of Action held entrepreneurship workshops with the Swan Youth Center as part of A Playful City. In addition; planting and greening workshops, we were commissioned to co-design and build pop-up furniture for the local young peoples’ future events.

Over the last number of years, A Playful City and HubSpot have collaborated with SWAN Youth and the local community in Dublin’s inner city, engaging residents across ages to playfully re-imagine public space in the area. Through creative and inclusive programming ties between HubSpot staff and community members have been strengthened, encouraging pride of place, and boost of well-being in the area through installations and events run with and for the community.

Co-designing the furniture and future ideas was part of the on-site activities and the outcome was building 2 bench planters, 4 bench seats, deckchairs, mobile tables and other elements for their start-up/pop-up business ideas. Local renowned illustrator and muralist Holly Pereira was an additional collaborator on these pieces.

‘We’ve had the best time this summer working with HubSpot to help SWAN Youth Service build their inclusive pop-up space for the community in Dublin’s North Inner City!

The young people in SWAN took workshops from local artists, activists and community groups to help them bring their plans of an inclusive social space to life. A huge thanks to Philip Halton, Holly Pereira, Elements of Action, Green Edge, and Mud Island Community Garden for their participation in the project, and sharing their expertise with the next generation!’
